The web interface and API use different paths

Web interface

The web interface relies on the browser session, cookies, script execution, and the region associated with the page. On first use, open the service homepage and wait for its resources to finish loading before signing in. If routes are switched frequently after login, the old session may no longer match the new exit environment, resulting in another login prompt, a blank page, or rejected requests.

  1. Confirm that the exit region is stable before opening the service page.
  2. After login, keep the current route and send one short request first.

API and command line

API requests bypass the web interface and are usually established directly over HTTPS by an SDK, command-line tool, or server-side program. Environment variables, proxy inheritance, DNS resolution, and certificate verification must be checked separately. A connected browser only shows that the browser path works; it does not replace checks of the API runtime environment.

  1. Confirm that the program actually reads the proxy configuration, rather than configuring only the browser.
  2. Check whether the environment containing the terminal can resolve the target domain and establish a connection.
  3. Store API keys in environment variables or a local credential manager.

Developer workflows depend on proxy inheritance

Command-line tools, IDE plugins, and CI environments often use a different network stack from the browser. Start troubleshooting by asking who is making the request, rather than checking only whether the desktop web interface works.

First confirm that the current shell can read the proxy environment variables, then run a minimal request. If a terminal startup script overwrites the variables, the graphical client's connection state will not automatically carry over to the command line. After each route change, confirm that the terminal process inherited the new settings.

IDE plugins

An IDE may have separate HTTP proxy, system proxy, and plugin-specific settings. When completion requests fail, check the connection error in the plugin log first, then verify that the IDE settings match the system client. If the login window opens in an embedded browser, confirm that it is not using a different exit route.

CI and remote environments

CI runners, containers, and remote development machines generally do not share the local client's state. Manage the proxy, DNS, and credentials as part of the runtime environment, and restrict credential visibility. For continuous requests, prefer routes with persistent connections and avoid changing the exit route mid-task.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Narrow down the issue by symptoms

The webpage opens, but login repeatedly returns to the sign-in page

Keep the current route unchanged and check whether the browser is blocking required cookies or scripts. Then sign out of the same account in other tabs and reopen the login page. If the issue began after changing routes, investigate the exit-region change before trying multiple accounts in succession.

The page finishes loading, but the response remains stuck in generation

This usually indicates an interrupted streaming connection. Copy any content already displayed and record the current route and tool entry point before refreshing. After reconnecting, reduce route switching. If the issue occurs in only one browser, check its extensions and network proxy.

The browser works, but command-line or IDE requests fail

Browser settings are not automatically passed to the terminal or IDE. Check proxy environment variables, IDE network settings, DNS resolution, and credential loading separately. Containers and CI also need their own network exit configured; the local browser result cannot validate a remote environment.

An image or long-text task disconnects midway

First confirm whether the route changed during the task. If it did not, check whether interruptions occur only in one network environment and try a route type with better connection continuity. Minimize refreshing during the task to avoid making the browser establish a new session.
